Job Opportunity- Regional Coordinator/Educator, Eastern Region Solid Waste Management


The Eastern Region Solid Waste-Resource Management Committee (ERSWRC) has an opening for a Regional Coordinator/Educator. This is a full-time position on a four-day work week, with an anticipated start date of Monday, January 31, 2022. The normal working hours will be Monday to Thursday (or Tuesday to Friday) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some evenings and weekends.

This position reports directly to the ERSWRC and is responsible for both administration and operations, including the design, implementation, communication, monitoring, compliance and reporting of waste reduction and litter programs. The Regional Coordinator/Educator must assist our municipal units and ensure they are kept informed of any changes/initiatives at the Provincial level in the waste-resource management field. The position is also responsible for the day-to-day management of one Compliance Officer who reports to this position.

This position will involve attending provincial meetings as required and site visits throughout Guysborough and Antigonish counties. A valid Driver’s License is required. The successful candidate will require a Criminal Record Check (for Vulnerable Sector) and Child Abuse Registry check. Educational requirements are preferably a related degree or diploma and 2 years experience. The salary scale for this position starts at $49,368.93. Initial salary will be based on level of experience and education. The successful candidate will also be compensated for travel and after a 6-month probationary period be offered a mandatory pension plan as well as benefits.
