Community Offerings

Close-knit communities across the district each have their own unique recreational offerings and opportunities, from playgrounds and fitness centres to outdoor swimming pools and marinas. Many facilities are the result of meaningful community-municipality partnerships.

Community spirit and dedication, including high levels of volunteerism, mean our residents enjoy more cultural and recreational opportunities than are offered in many larger municipalities.

Our communities are also served by excellent P-12 public schools in Guysborough and Hazel Hill as well as CSAP's École à Torbé, a French first language school located next to the Larry's River Community Centre. Most residents have access to high-speed Internet – with expansion of broadband services ongoing – and several communities have municipal water and/or sewer systems.

Community events – such as ceilidhs and kitchen parties at local halls, fundraising dinners and children’s activities – can be found every week throughout the year across the municipality.

Six times a year, we deliver a newsletter full of information about municipal events and other community happenings to every home.
