The Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) is seeking an executive to join the
senior management team and become the primary point person to help capitalize on economic
opportunities associated with the Renewable Industry. The successful candidate will also assist
with the management of the Municipality's own renewable projects.
MODG has significant strategic land holdings that help position the Province of Nova Scotia to
harness onshore and offshore renewable resources; from the production of green energy to fuel
the hydrogen and ammonia industry to an assortment of burgeoning green energy development
opportunities.
The Business Development Officer will have the primary responsibility to manage all third-party
energy developments tied to the transitioning energy sector, emerging renewables and green
hydrogen developments within MODG. This will involve communication; liaison with developers,
other levels of government, residents, and stakeholders to advance wind development projects
that are sustainable, responsible, and beneficial for our Municipality.
The preferred candidate will have a thorough understanding of the evolving energy industry in
Nova Scotia and strong demonstrated economic and business acumen. A strong record and
history of community engagement would be considered an asset. A background in business or
community development, engineering, or some combination of experience preferably in the
renewables sector would be preferred.
