Solar Panels for Municipal Buildings

Yesterday, in a news release issued by MP Mike Kelloway close to $1.1 million dollars in joint funding was announced for the installation of solar panels on various municipal buildings. The Municipal Office, Canso & Area Arena, CLC, Guysborough & Canso Libraries and Canso Hazel Hill Water Treatment Plant will be retrofitted with solar panels to lower energy costs, produce renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“The Municipality of Guysborough has been proactive over the last decade instituting measures to reduce our carbon emissions by investing in solar, wind, and the integration of hybrid and electric vehicles to our fleet. We are very pleased to receive this funding from the provincial and federal levels of government, allowing us to significantly increase our efforts to reduce emissions and reduce operational costs.” -Warden Vernon Pitts, MODG
