The Municipality of the District of Guysborough is currently accepting applications for the following summer student positions:
Summer Recreation Supervisor Position – 2 Openings
This is a (12) twelve-week position, with a start date of June 1st, 2026. The normal hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday, with evening and weekend work required. The hourly rate of pay is $18.75.
Summer Recreation Day Camp Leader Position – 6 Openings
This is a (8) eight-week position, with a start date of June 29th, 2026. The normal hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday, with evening and weekend work required. The hourly rate of pay is $17.75.
African NS Community Events Coordinator - 1 Opening
This is a (8) eight-week position, with a start date of June 22nd, 2026. The normal hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday, with evening and weekend work required. The hourly rate of pay is $18.75.
Lifeguard Positions – Canso & Guysborough Pools
Applicants must already possess the required training, which should be clearly defined in your application. The hours and start date will vary, depending on Pool hours of operation. We are seeking to fill positions with National Lifeguards, Assistant Lifeguards and swim instructors. Hourly wage will be based on certification level. The start date for this position is June 22nd, 2026.
All positions defined above will be responsible to the Recreation Director and Recreation Programmer.
Public Works General Labourer Student Position – 1 Opening Canso (8 weeks), 2 Openings Guysborough (8 weeks & 12 weeks)
Students will be directly responsible to the Department of Public Works in carrying out maintenance, mowing, painting, property cleanup and general labour. This position will require experience in the above and strong communication skills. The normal hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday and the rate of pay is $17.75.
Public Works Office Administrative Support - 1 Opening (12 weeks)
This position will perform clerical and organizational support; maintaining manual and computerized information filing systems as well as assist in processing invoices, updating or improving existing digital filling systems. The normal working hours will be Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the rate of pay is $17.75.
