Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex
The Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex, located at 60 Green Street, Guysborough, houses the Chedabucto Fitness Center, community meeting/event space, Recreation Department office space, an elementary-sized gymnasium that can easily be converted into community space for weddings, etc., and community offices.
Attached to the building is a refrigerated shinny rink with removable boards which can be used for skating/hockey purposes and a refrigerated skating loop that measures about 1,000 feet in length. The shinny rink can be used in off season for ball hockey, basketball and other outdoor activities. The skating loop can be used in off-season months for roller blading, walking etc. Additional facilities, include a regulation-sized artificial turf soccer field with a four-lane running track and a new seating area.

CLC Shinny Rink & Figure Eight Skating Trail
The shinny rink and figure eight skating trail opened for the current winter season in December 2025 and will be available until mid-March, depending on weather conditions. Please contact 902-533-2088 to ask about daily ice conditions or check out our Facebook Page.
Canso & Area Arena
The Canso Arena is located at 103 Queen Street, Canso. It has a full sized skating surface and a Warm Room available for rental. The Ice Surface is available from mid- October to mid- March for ice rentals. It is also available the remainder of the year for rental without the ice.

CLC & Fanning Fitness Center's and Pool Membership Pricing
Swimming Pools
MODG has two seasonal, outdoor heated pools (open July & August); one at Chedabucto Place and the other in Canso, adjacent the Canso arena. Various swimming programs are coordinated by the Recreation Department during the summer months. Onsite change and washroom facilities are available. Community Fitness Centres
Community Fitness Centres are run by a team of local volunteers and feature a variety of state of the art fitness equipment provided by the Municipality. Equipment includes treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, machine and free weights. Community Fitness Centres are located in:
- Whitehead (at the old Fire Hall)
- New Harbour Community Centre
- Queensport Fire Hall
- St. Francis Harbour Hall
Tennis Courts
Two lighted outdoor tennis courts are located near the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex, 60 Green Street,Guysborough. For more information call the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex Office at 902-533-2088 or contact the Municipal Recreation Department.
Multi-Purpose Facilities
Outdoor Multi-Purpose Facilities consist of two tennis courts, two basketball courts, street hockey, & outdoor Green Gym fitness equipment. There are lights at most facilities for night-time use. There is no charge for participants to use these recreational amenities. Multi-Purpose Facilities are located in:

- Little Dover, 1408 Dover Road (by the ballfield)
- Country Harbour, 17846 Highway 316 Country Harbour Crossroads (by Community Centre)

Miles MacDonald Performance Centre
The Miles MacDonald Performance Centre offers a priceless asset to the cultural, educational and economic life of our region.
