District Six: Councillor Susan Cashin

Larry's River, New Harbour, Tor Bay, Charlos Cove, Cole Harbour, Port Felix, Whitehead

Susan Cashin is a lifelong resident of Port Felix. She attended Riverview Consolidated School, New Harbour, and Guysborough High. Her education is in Administration, and Community Economic Development, having attended Dartmouth Regional Vocational, and Nova Scotia Community College (Truro). 

She has worked as an Administrative Assistant with Dun and Bradstreet in Halifax and Toronto, Guysborough Medical Clinic, and the past 30 years with the Province of Nova Scotia, Department of Community Services, and 5 years experience in community economic development with Team Guysborough. She also worked as a Labourer at Canso Seafoods and was an active member of the UFCW Union as a Shop Steward.

She has served as a volunteer for many community based organizations as a board member, chair and co-chair, in her community and throughout the MODG including, 27 year volunteer, board member and Crew head for the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, founding member of the Guysborough County Operation Christmas Spirit Program, Port Felix Wharf Preservation, Whitehead/Port Felix Canal Restoration, Cole Harbour Beach Restoration , Port Felix Outdoor Rink, Port Felix VFD, Guysborough Community Channel, Canso Area Big Brothers Big Sisters, John Howard Society Alternative Measures Program, Port Felix Parish Aid, Tor Bay Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Riverview Consolidated School Council, and New Harbour and Area Community Access Association.

Susan was elected as Councillor in District 6 in 2024 and will be serve on the Library Board, the Community Health Board, and the Community First Guysborough County Housing Association.
