New Look, Same Important Job!

On Monday, June 30th our waste collection truck rolled out with a fresh new look. Featuring a bright and inclusive new decal designed by MODG's own Gi Pellerin, this truck hit the road with style and purpose!

Gi is a 20-year-old illustrator and animation student from the community of Guysborough. They are currently studying for a bachelor in animated film making at Sheridan college in Oakville Ontario. Gi likes drawing fun cartoony characters and draws inspiration from shows and books they grew up with. Gi has been drawing since childhood and has illustrated two children’s books.

“For this project specifically, I wanted to use a very simple, graphic style that would be easy to see from far away, since it was gonna be used on a vehicle.” – Gi Pellerin

The Municipality chose to feature artwork from a local student artist as a way to transform routine waste collection into a celebration of creativity, community pride, and public service. This initiative not only highlights the vital role of waste collection services but also actively engages local youth in a meaningful way.

The bright and inclusive design is intended to resonate with residents of all ages. It reflects both the spirit of our community and the positive, hardworking attitude of the drivers who do such a great job all over the municipality.

Thanks to Gi for bringing local flair to a service that keeps our community clean and green!
