The Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) is currently accepting applications for a Protective Services Operational Support position. This is a permanent, full-time role with a condensed four-day work week (Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). Evening and weekend engagement, along with travel, will be required. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Emergency Services, local Volunteer Fire Departments and the broader community through a public safety lens.
Reporting directly to the Director of Emergency Services, this newly created position is a strategic addition to MODG, designed to enhance support for our communities and dedicated volunteers.

Core responsibilities include supporting volunteer fire departments with equipment testing, inspections schedules, and asset management. The role will be involved in community and public engagement/outreach and will assist with training within the fire service. The ideal candidate will have a background and training specific to the fire service and/or emergency services and have a strong operational understanding of firefighting equipment. The candidate must have a collaborative and proactive work ethic with strong communication and relationship-building skills. A background working with the community and volunteer organizations is considered an asset.
