Mr. Gordon MacDonald has retired after 29 years of service to the residents of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough and Guysborough County as a whole.
Gordon started his career with the Guysborough County Regional Development Authority (RDA) in April of 1995. With the closure of the RDA, Gordon was hired by the Municipality in January of 2013 as the Director of Economic Development.
Over his career, Gordon has spearheaded several large-scale development projects in MODG including Sable Gas, Vulcan Materials Black Point Quarry, Melford Terminal, Signal Gold, and Maritime Launch, to name a few. Gordon also led the development of Sable Wind and has been involved in several recent renewable energy projects in the Municipality including Nova East Wind, EverWind Fuels, Bear Head Energy and PHPWind projects.
Gordon has always displayed a great passion for growth and prosperity in the community. Gordon has been a regional leader in Economic Development and has developed a vast network of professional colleagues and friends over the years at local, Provincial, National, and International levels. Gordon is truly well respected by his coworkers, peers and colleagues.
Working with Gordon has been a true delight. We are deeply grateful, Gordon, for all you have done for the residents of MODG and we know that you will continue to be a community leader, even following your retirement.
