The Guysborough Municipal Recreation Department is pleased to host an upcoming Volunteer Recognition Ceremony in celebration of the many individuals who give their time and energy to strengthen our communities.
Volunteers are the heart of rural life. Their dedication, generosity, and community spirit play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for all residents. This event is a small but meaningful way for the Municipality to express our sincere appreciation for the important contributions made by volunteers and organizations across the district.
The ceremony will include a dinner and the presentation of certificates from Municipal Council to all volunteers in attendance.
Each organization is invited to nominate one outstanding volunteer to attend the event, which will take place at the Port Felix Community Hall (2868 Hwy 316, Port Felix) on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. We kindly ask that you share these details with your selected volunteer so they are aware of the event.

Volunteer Recognition 2026: Nomination Guidelines
Any organization can nominate 1 volunteer.
The volunteer must perform volunteer work within the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.
We ask that organizations, where possible, please choose a nominee who has not been recognized through this event in the past 3 years.
Nominations must be accompanied by a clearly written or typed description (100 words) of the nominee’s past and present volunteer activities. Please keep personal information about the nominee to a minimum and focus more on the nominee’s present and past volunteer involvement.
The deadline to receive nominations will be Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026.
We ask that organizations notify the person they are nominating and pass along the details of the event to them.
The preferred method of submitting a completed application is by email, to jmyers@modg.ca. If this is not possible, you can submit by mail or in person at the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex.
