The Municipality of the District of Guysborough (MODG) has contracted the engineering firm WSP Canada Inc. to complete a study of the current groundwater usage to determine both quality and quantity within the community of Little Dover. A well testing program, in conjunction with an in-depth hydrogeological study will be completed to help support the study, as well as cost estimates for potential solutions. The Municipality has completed various studies within MODG in the past on both water and wastewater for all residents. This study area will comprise all the areas from the intersection at Little Dover Road and Hazel Hill on Route 16 to and including the community of Little Dover.
Further to the information session held on October 9th, 2025, WSP Canada Inc., together with a representative from the Municipality will be visiting properties to collect well water samples from residents who choose to participate, on the dates listed below:
- Tuesday, November 25th, for the full day
- Wednesday November 26th, for the afternoon
- Thursday November 27th, for the full day
- Tuesday, December 2nd, for the full day
- Wednesday, December 3rd, for the afternoon
- Thursday December 4th, for the full day
This sampling supports our ongoing work to better understand groundwater quality in your area. Those who have already filled out the water response survey may receive a phone call prior to the visit to confirm a suitable date and access needs. We will also circulate the community and knock when we are in the area. If you have any questions about the sampling process or wish to discuss access to your property, please contact Glen Avery, Director of Public Works, at gavery@modg.ca.
Thank you for your cooperation.
