Mr. Gary Cleary Retirement

Mr. Gary Cleary has retired after 36 years of service to the residents of the Municipality of the District of Guysborough and the Province as a whole. 

Gary started his career with the Municipality on October 1st, 1987. During Gary's time with the Municipality he has filled the role of Building Inspector/Development Officer, Director of Waste Management, Acting CAO, Deputy CAO; and, most recently Director of Special Projects. 

Gary was instrumental in helping to build and lay the ground work for many projects over the years such as the Sable Gas Plant Project and the Melford Container Terminal project, among many others. Gary was also instrumental in securing 20-year agreements with 16 municipalities and constructing and operating an award winning 2nd generation Guysborough Waste Management Facility. 

Gary is extremely well respected both professionally and personally and has always gone above and beyond to serve the public. Gary has been a friend, mentor, inspiration and confidant to many of his fellow employees and is extremely well respected at work and in his community. 

Gary is always ready to lend a hand whether it be helping his neighbour or at the Intervale Hall, among many other volunteer roles over the years. He can be counted on always to lend a helping hand. 

It has been an absolute pleasure working with Gary over the years and he will be missed by all. Thank you Gary for everything you have done for the residents of MODG.
