MODG Adopts First Equity and Anti-Racism Plan

Belonging Begins Here: MODG's Path to Equity

At tonight’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Council officially adopted MODG’s first Equity and Anti-Racism Plan. The EDIA Committee, formed in February 2025, has been supporting the development of this plan over the past several months. It will guide all departments in applying an equity, diversity, and inclusion lens to their work over the next three years.

With the support of the committee, staff have titled the plan Belonging Begins Here: MODG’s Path to Equity. The plan is organized into three main areas:

  • Education and Awareness
  • Celebration and Community Engagement
  • Organizational Accountability

Each section includes a clear list of actions designed to support meaningful and measurable progress.

Staff and Council would like to thank all committee members for their time, knowledge, experience, and the community feedback they brought forward. Their input has been vital to the development and success of this plan.

Staff also highlighted an intentional blank page within the working document, symbolizing the work ahead and the gaps that remain as MODG continues to advance equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in our community.
