The Municipality of the District of Guysborough wishes to advise everyone that in our most recent EMO updates from the Province, that the current weather conditions are expected to last through the night with some improvements expected as we move through the day tomorrow.
We still have more than 1500 homes without power in our Municipality. Due to high winds and the current conditions, NS Power are advising that restoration may not happen until 6pm tomorrow, Monday.
We have many people in the community who are elderly or may have additional needs. Please check in on your neighbours to see if they need anything. The Municipality will usually provide comfort centers after 72 hours, or earlier in some cases, but in this type of weather situation, it would be impossible to get people safely to comfort centers.
Emergency services are available, and if the need arises, please call 911 and we will get to you. Public Work crews, municipal staff, EMO service providers are doing what they can to provide necessary services. Most roads are currently impassable but in the event of an emergency, we will access snow clearing equipment.
As mentioned in a previous post, there will be no waste collection on Monday.
